Imitation Photography

In this work, to achieve “realism,” I simulated the effect of shooting with a flash on a cheap camera at night with all the accompanying disadvantages (grain, blur, highlights, poor color rendition, lens distortion, etc.). That is, to make the image more “alive,” I tried to imitate photography, but photography, with its ability to convey the appearance of material objects like the eye, is itself an imitation of “life.” It turns out that I tried to depict “life” by imitation of imitation of “life”. “Copy” says more about the “original” than the “original” itself.
Variations of the word “life” are put in quotation marks, because it was possible to further develop the theme of “life”, which cannot be something on which one can rely in terms of the reference of reality, but the problems of simulacra of simulacra are already known to everyone.
